Bridal events this month

So many bridal events, so little time! Here are some bridal events to check out during the next month in our region. At these events you'll meet lots of vendors offering a variety of services. Wear something with pockets if you can! Put the business cards of the vendors you like or are interested into your pocket and, if you can, jot a quick note about them to jog your memory.

Wednesday, August 18 -- Veils and Cocktails, 6:30 to 9, The Madison Event Center, $10 per person.
Thursday, August 19 -- Open House at Camargo Rental
Saturday, August 21 -- Anderson Bridal Show from 10 to 3. Free admission.
Sunday, August 22 -- Dayton Bridal Connection open house, 2 to 5 p.m. Free admission
Sunday, August 29 -- Cincinnati Bridal Expo, Manor House, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., $8 per person
Now through August 31 -- Bella Donna Closing Sale (up to 75% off dresses)
Saturday & Sunday, September 10 & 11 -- Simone Carvalli Trunk Show, European Bridal
September 16 -- Bitter Bridesmaids Bash, Covington, 6 to 9 p.m. Free admission with a used bridesmaids dress.
September 19 -- Bridal Show at Receptions, Northern Kentucky, 12 to 4:30 p.m. $8 per person.
Wednesday, September 29 -- Bridal Affair on Fountain Square

Some vendors offer great promotions if you put down a deposit at a show. If possible, research the vendor on your I-phone or PDA and see what comes up as far as vendor reviews go on sites like Bride and Groom Planner, Wedding Wire or The Knot before making a deposit. Check their rating with the BBB. Visit their websites before the show so you can decide which vendors you'd like to chat further with. These vendors pay to exhibit at these shows -- it's up to you to be smart with choosing a vendor that will be the best fit for your wedding. There is a wedding vendor for every style, personality and budget -- no need to go into debt with your wedding. Set a budget and stick to it!

Wedding Wednesday: Candace and Doug at Manor House

Candace and Doug celebrated their wedding nuptials and reception at the lovely Manor House in Mason, Ohio. The ceremony took place outside by the gazebo. Destiny from Fassler Florist performed her magic on the beautiful flowers for the day. The amazing and talented Ron Shuller captured these amazing photos. Rounding out the day were Dale Moberly from Sounds Great Entertainment (DJ), Skeffington's (tuxedos and invitations) European Bridal for the dress; and Maribelle Cakery (yum yum yum!). The bride's brother performed the ceremony and Candace's mother took care of designing the programs and menu cards.

Some fun aspects to the reception? The groom is a huge Browns fan, the bride a huge Steelers fan. She had a garter with the Steelers colors and logo on it, and we handed out terrible towels to the men during the garter toss. The cake topper also matched the bride and groom's favorite pose, as you can see from their engagement photos. Fun fun!

Ironically, it was picture perfect weather during the ceremony. Instead of incorporating the dog into the ceremony, we had Layla come down for photos earlier in the day.
Just after the bouquet toss (right about the time the bride and groom were doing the Hora, a traditional Jewish dance), we had a tornado warning outside! Thank you, mother nature, for holding out for the picture perfect outdoor ceremony and keeping everyone safe during this fun filled reception!
