Candace and Doug; Tweet by Tweet today!

We are doing a tweet-by-tweet of the festivities of today's wedding on http://www.twitter.com/yourdreamday.com

The really cool thing about this wedding? The photographer. Ron Shuller shot the groom's mother's wedding 30 years ago! He's so amazing! Here is the couple's engagement shoot at Pompilio's, where the couple got engaged.

Enjoy!

Save the Date! 9/23/09. Bridal show with silent auction of lightly used wedding items, dresses and gift certificates to benefit the Lupus foundation of America. Visit the blog for more details! http://ping.fm/uljtF

SAVE THE DATE! 9/23/2009, Hyatt Regency Downtown

Your Dream Day has partnered with the The Wedding Mafia to present a bridal show this fall. At the bridal show, there will be a silent auction that will benefit the Lupus Foundation. (This fall is a test run, we hope to do this throughout the year in 2010 if all goes well!)

What's so special about this silent auction and bridal show?

We are asking vendors and couples who have already had their weddings to donate lightly used wedding items (for which they will get a tax deduction for) to the silent auction. If you have a garage or basement with lots of lightly used wedding items collecting dust or taking up space, or you don't know what to do with it after the wedding, this is your chance! Brides that are getting married will have the opportunity to get some amazing bargains on these lightly used items (including centerpieces, vases, dresses, favors, unity candle bases, gift certificates for services, and who knows what else!) while helping out for a great cause.

REQUIREMENTS: Subject to Change.
1) If you have items to drop off, items will be accepted the week of the event at the Hyatt and you will receive a tax note upon dropping off your items. You must pack fragile items in newspaper and bring them in a box that the buyer can take easily off the premisis.
2) Any items purchased are sold as is and cannot be returned or exchanged after the auction.
3) You will get up to 50% write off for the amount you originally paid for the item, or what the current market value or sale price is for a similar item on ebay. Our appraisal of the item is not negotiable and you have the right to choose not to donate the items once hearing the amount of your write off.
4) Any items that do not sell may be reclaimed at the conclusion of the event. Any items not claimed by 12 noon the next day will be relinquised to Your Dream Day for use at its discretion at future events of this nature.

Admission to the show is free, compliments of the Wedding Mafia. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or donating an item, please contact Your Dream Day or The Wedding Mafia.

Q102 radio program -- the little things you do

I called into Q102 and talked to Brian Douglas (who I've known for about 10 years now) and they were asking married people about the little things that you do for your spouse. After nearly five years of marriage, my husband and I still do cute little things for each other. Every Sunday he makes me breakfast in bed and he sings songs around the house all the time -- but -- he rewrites the songs and substitutes other words and our names in there. He also loves notes. We text each other throughout the day or call just to say hi.

Remember ... it's the little things that count in a marriage or relationship ....

Engagement Photo of Kelly Ledford, makeup artist

Kelly Ledford of Cinci Makeup is getting married this January and we are helping her plan the big event! Doesn't she look amazing in her engagement photo? Good rule of thumb when booking a makeup artist. Look how they do their own makeup -- it's a good indication of how they'll do yours!

Which do you prefer -- color or black and white? I like the black and white, my husband likes the color. Vote by commenting!

Lots of updates made to the blog http://ping.fm/TvWyi and YouTube channel http://ping.fm/bjnaK today. Check it out!

Arch Of Swords (Sabers) Ceremony

Arch Of Swords (Sabers) Ceremony at a wedding are a great addition to a wedding ceremony. (We actually have a client doing this next May). Men who are serving in the military will traditionally wear their uniforms on the wedding day. All are formal, with military personnel in dress uniform and commanding officers seated according to rank. The bride and groom walk through an arch when they process. No one out of uniform may hold a saber during the ceremony. Upon command, the sabers are drawn by the right hand, the bride and groom walk under the sabers, kiss, exit the sabers and then salute. There are slight variations in the ceremonies between the Navy, Army and Air Force, but your commanding officer can fill you in on any details that you may not be sure about.

I hope you had a great holiday, remember our troops!

My phone is fried!!!

Yesterday's tweet by tweet went very well .... until ... my PDA fell into a bucket of orchids! It's fried! And of course, this would happen on a holiday weekend. So clients, vendors, colleagues -- don't call my cell phone until you see a post here, on Twitter, or on Facebook that it's working again. Isn't it amazing how dependant we are on technology?
