Wedding at Masonic Temple

The attached photos, compliments of Childers Photography, are from a wedding we did at the Masonic Temple this past February.

The one thing we will always remember about this wedding -- the 500 chair covers! Chair covers will take one person about 2 1/2 hours, so make sure that you do the math if you are doing your own chair cover installations. We were able to get into the facility the night before to do some of the setup, but it took four people about four hours to do this whole setup.

This couple also transported their guests from the hotel to the Masonic Temple in a coach bus -- it's a great way to transport 50+ people from one place to another. They also had a candy bar, which had nine different types of candy, scoops, and large glass containers. (Your Dream Day now offers this service a-la-carte for $3 per person, including 6 different kinds of candy, scoops, bags, and an attendant during the reception to keep it full. A monogram and customized bags can be added for an additional 25 cents per person.)

Dick Church, the Mayor of Miamisburg, performed the ceremony. Ele Cake Company did the amazing cake, and the band, The Fifth Avenue Band, was nothing short of amazing.

Enjoy the pixs!

Read your contracts before booking your reception

This is so important!! Know what you are getting yourself into.

Questions to ask:
1) What is the deposit? Is it non refundable?
2) What space exactly have you booked?
3) When are installment payments due? Are there penalties if you're late in paying?
4) What will a facility let you do decorating wise? Can you hang things, use rose petals, bring in your own vendors, etc?
5) Do you have to use a specific caterer? If so, find out or estimate how much their portion will cost you.
6) When can you set up on the day, or days prior to, the wedding?

Sometimes you can find a loophole in the contract and get some of your money returned. I have had two clients this year who have almost fallen victim to reception halls. I got a $2,000 deposit refunded to one client because they cashed her check without her signing a contract. I got a second $1,000 deposit refunded from a caterer for the same reason. However, I have a client who is out $500 because she decided to move her reception somewhere else. Even though the wedding is 15 months from now, the deposit is non refundable and there is nothing we can do.

Runaway Bride Run on 5/16 in Reading

Amy Owens from Amo-Ink asked that I post this in the blog. It's for a good cause!!

I hope all is going well with wedding planning! I just wanted to let all my clients know about a fantastic event being hosted next month by the Reading Bridal District - the Runaway Bride 5K Race on May 16. Whether or not you are a runner or a walker, it could be a fun challenge to accomplish (with your groom and bridesmaids!) as you are getting in shape for your big day. There will be a free t-shirt and a delicious pancake breakfast by Vonderhaar's after the race. It should be lots of fun, and costumes are encouraged - there are even prizes for the best dressed bride, groom, bridesmaids and groomsmen! There will also be a Kids Fun Run - so you can bring your flower girl and ring bearer as well. You can download a registration form HERE, or stop by my office to fill one out. I am actually entered in a contest to see which RBD shop can recruit the most participants, so please indicate that I referred you on the form, or I can initial the form if you fill it out in my office. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to see you on the 16th!

Wedding Planning Tip of the Day: Dogs on the wedding day?

Want to incorporate your special furry friend into your wedding day? Here are some cute ideas! If you want to purchase them, I've incorporated the links into the photos.

Make sure that you take into account your pet's temperment when you decide to bring them to the wedding. How do they interact with strangers? To them, there will be a lot at your wedding. How often do they water the hydrant, so to say? You'll also want to designate someone to watch over the dog for the entire day -- the last thing you want to do is have all the focus on an animal instead of you!
