I saw this really cool idea while I was in Tucson in one of their local wedding magazines. Basically, for their Save the Date cards, the couple hand-delivered these save the date door hangers. A oversized engagement ring served as the holder and the card was collapsed below it.
So how can you make this yourself? Simple! Flower Factory in Centerville sells these large oversized wedding rings in their wedding department. Take three sets of two index card size pieces of cardstock. Place three of the cardstocks on a table, two cm apart. Take spray glue and spray over the three cardstocks. Place a 1/4 inch ribbon on top and press firmly. Next, place another cardstock on top of the ones you just sprayed and glued. Before gluing the top card, place the ring in a loop inside the ribbon. Hot glue, crazy glue or staple the ribbon to the card before gluing the top card on. Next, print out the "Save the Date" from your computer on a piece of cardstock and spray glue on to your hanger. It's important not to use normal paper -- the glue will bleed through regardless whether you use spray glue, elmers, or hot glue.
Cost: Average about $3 each for supplies.
